Reiki Psychic Surgery, For Real?

0

Psychic surgery is high level vitality work. As a rule, it is prescribed that just third degree specialists with adequate experience do this. On the off chance that you have not done an exhaustive round of questioning yet but rather are profoundly instinctive and talented with vitality work, you can counsel with your higher self and afterward choose on the off chance that you ought to do it or not.

Psychic surgery can be done to heal stubborn blocks that do not respond to gentler healing. It is commonly done to treat physical ailments but it can work for mental-emotional issues as well. Reiki psychic surgery involves using several healing techniques in conjunction with Reiki and the power of your intuition.

This article explains Reiki psychic surgery as done under the guidance of Archangel Raphael. Raphael is the Master-Healer of the angelic realm and he takes delight in helping Reiki healers. In order to provide maximum benefit to yourself or your client, you must be able to put your logical mind aside and trust your intuition one hundred percent. When you surrender completely, Raphael works beautifully through you and the whole process feels effortless. Raphael plays the role of chief surgeon who is around to help and guide. We play the role of assistant surgeons who are training under him!

Who needs Psychic Surgery? Risks vs Benefits

Psychic surgery is normally done only when nothing else seems to help. It is not necessary in all cases and can cause uncomfortable symptoms if done for no reason. Doctors perform a caesarean section only when the baby’s position does not allow a natural birth or labour does not progress as expected. Surgery done for no reason can cause more harm than good. So, put on a medical hat and assess the risks and benefits of performing psychic surgery. If the benefits outweigh the risks, go ahead! If they don’t, stick with gentler healing.

The Procedure

1. Prepare the healing area by physically cleaning it. Cleanse the room by drawing Dai Ko Myo and Cho Ku Rei on the walls, ceiling, floor, the healing couch/massage table and everywhere else that you feel guided to.
2. Place a picture (or oracle card) of Archangel Raphael and other Masters, Guides and Angels that you connect with.
3. Light candles, burn some incense and play soothing music.
4. Have plenty of water handy.
5. Take a few deep breaths and centre yourself. Request Raphael to help you with this process and to perform the surgery through you. Request your guides and angels to surround you in a shield of protective light so as to keep your energies safe.

6. Ask your client to come in and lie down. Begin by scanning the aura and make a note of the areas where the energy feels stuck or heavy.
7. Encourage your client to locate areas where energies feel stubbornly stuck.
8. If it is a specific organ or body part that needs healing, you will still need to scan the aura and locate the areas that hold stubborn blocks. This is because stuck energies are not always restricted to a diseased body part. They are usually present in several areas of the body and each one must be addressed independently for a full healing to occur.
9. Once you identify the areas that have stuck energies, call on Archangel Raphael and ask him to guide every move of yours as you go about performing the surgery.
10. In the case of physical ailments, also scan the diseased body part or organ for stuck energies.
11. Assess the nature of every stubborn block you encounter. Does the block feel rough and hard? Does it feel icky and soft? Does it feel coarse” What shape does it have? What colour is it? Trust the impressions you first receive. Depending on the nature of the block, proceed to remove it. Use the Violet Flame to transmute the blocks. The energy that is removed can be tossed into the
Violet Flame where it will be transmuted.
12. A block that feels hard may need to be drilled or extracted. A block that feels icky may need to be cut. Cut, drain, repair and stitch as a surgeon would do. Move your hands exactly like you would if you were a surgeon performing surgery. You must literally play around with the energy. With Archangel Raphael acting as your guide, you cannot make a mistake.
13. Take breaks in between and drink water. Same goes for your client.
14. If something feels overwhelming, take a break. Sit down, drink some water and relax. Request Archangel Raphael to work on your client while you rest. Watch what happens and observe how Raphael works. You may learn a thing or two. Get back to working alongside Raphael when you feel ready.
15. It is not necessary for all blocks to be cleared in one session. When you intuitively feel that you must stop for the day, feel free to stop. It is good to give the body time to adjust with the healing that occurred. Do not force healing beyond what is necessary at the moment.
16. It is important to fill up the areas that were worked on with healing energy. Request Raphael to direct his healing green light through your palms. Fill up all the areas that were worked on with this green light and intend that it stays there for as long as necessary.
17. Proceed to do a full body healing with Reiki, paying special attention to the areas that were worked on. If any of the chakras seem deficient in energy, strengthen them with balls of light of the corresponding chakra colours. For example, if the root chakra needs extra attention, make an energy ball of red light and push it into the chakra. This must be done alongside the Reiki healing.
18. Once done, wrap the client in a cocoon of Reiki/emerald green light/white light/pink light (as you feel guided to). Draw the Master and power symbols on the cocoon and seal the healing.
19. Request Raphael to stay by the client’s side for as long as necessary and to keep him or her comfortable.
20. If the client is asleep, leave him or her undisturbed.
21. Drink plenty of water and get your client to do the same once he or she wakes up.

Post Healing Discussion

Encourage your client to take further action steps towards healing the root cause of the issue. Every disease and imbalance has an underlying root cause. And until we take steps to heal the root cause, it is quite likely that the blocks will resurface. If the case has been thoroughly discussed earlier, you may be aware of the root cause already. Alternately, you may receive information about the root cause during the healing. If you need further assistance, you can do angel card readings to receive specific guidance for your client. Discuss your findings with the client and guide him or her on further action steps.

Cleansing

Since a lot of negative energy is released during psychic surgery, it is important that the healing area is cleansed thoroughly before you use it again. Burn some incense and allow its smoke to permeate every corner of the room. Allow it to touch the area where the client lay down. Draw the Master Symbol and Power Symbol once again on the walls, ceiling, floor, door, windows etc. Place balls of Reiki in each corner of the room. Toss one huge ball into the centre of the room to keep the energy flowing.

What Reiki Can Do for Your Family

11

Reiki is a blessing that we give ourselves and it increments for us when we can share it to our family. Not only the run of the mill mother and father and youngsters, additionally huge others, and the numerous individuals we frequently consider family.

My first “students” that I attuned as a new Reiki Master in 1995 were my husband Bob and son Johnnie (7). Although they didn’t fully understand what Reiki was all about and what I was about to do, they were willing to support me in my journey as a teacher. I cannot begin to tell you the joy that I felt as I prepared them to receive this gift. Tears flowed from my eyes as I attuned them. I felt the joy and the coming together as a spiritual family. The remembering of who we are at our soul level and why we come together in a family was the gift of their attunements.

Later that year, when I attended a Karuna Reiki® workshop, I was told during a meditation that my son Matthew, at 4 years of age, was ready to receive his attunement as well. He has brought much insight ever since (and many laughs) about how to use Reiki.

How we use Reiki as a family is that we pick a time and share Reiki with each other. The boys are much quicker in their giving and receiving since they are pure channels. They feel the energy come in and out. So a typical sharing can last just an hour. We usually scan each other to find the areas in need and then allow the Reiki to flow there.

Whenever I am teaching, someone always gives me Reiki before class. It helps me to be a more clear channel and for things to flow smoothly.

If there is an illness or injury, whoever is available at the time will give Reiki. If we are all available, we give the person as much Reiki as they want. This has worked well with the kids and sports injuries and fevers and colds. We have found that the illness works through the process quicker and injuries heal faster.

A friend of John’s recently broke her wrist. He went to her house and gave her Reiki. He is usually shy about sharing it (he’s a teenager now) so I was quite happy when he told me what he did! He said she felt the heat and the energy and enjoyed the “treatment.”

reiki family 3

When one of the boys has an exam in school, we make time to send Reiki to them. We send the mental/emotional symbol for relaxation and clear thinking. A few weeks ago, when John was taking his Math Regents exam, Bob and I stopped what we were doing and sent Reiki 5 minutes before the exam began. John told us later that he felt this energy come over him and he felt really good taking the test. I also send the boys Reiki when they are into sibling rivalry and fighting. Again, I use the mental/emotional symbol to help heal the relationship and ask for the best outcome.

We also send Reiki as a family to other family members in difficult times. When my cousin died this year at 46 years of age, it was a difficult time for the entire family. The boys and I prepared them emotionally and asked that we give ourselves Reiki for a few minutes before we went in. I also asked them to bring Reiki in, fill themselves up with it, and then let it flow from them to our relatives and friends who needed it.

We also send Reiki to anyone in the family who is sick or in distress. We just stop what we are doing, invoke the distant healing symbol, and think of the person or situation and let the Reiki flow. We always ask for the best outcome and let Reiki do what needs to be done.

When Bob has important business meetings, or travels, the boys and I send Reiki for a successful outcome or safety. When I travel to teach, they send me Reiki as well.

What I have found is that the use of Reiki in the family helps us all to be more understanding and accepting and compassionate with each other. It helps us really focus on the love we feel for each other.

An interesting family experience was when I gave my niece a Reiki session (she is 30) and she loved it! I explained what Reiki is and that we all do it. She then said, “I always knew there was something special and different about your family!” That was one of the best compliments I ever had! We have since had many interesting conversations and it brought our relationship to a different and more enjoyable level.

One very special family use of Reiki was by two of my students from New England. They took the Master class in December 1997, and their gift to their family for Christmas was the gift of Reiki. On Christmas Eve, they gathered their family together (mom and dad and sisters), talked about Reiki, and then gave them their first degree attunement. Even the cat joined in! That was their sharing of their love for their family. They have shared it ever since.

Some other ways families can use Reiki is if someone is terminally ill or going through radiation or chemotherapy. The family members learn Reiki and are able to give their loved ones Reiki to support their process. They also have Reiki for themselves to replenish their energy and help them keep on keeping on. It is also useful for someone who has surgery. Giving Reiki before and after helps the healing process and strengthens the connection between family members.

Some women also study Reiki so that they can give themselves and their baby Reiki during their pregnancy. What a gift that baby has receiving Reiki even before it’s born!

Reiki is good for all aspects of loving and living together. It helps us to be the people we are truly meant to be. It helps us to remember to be compassionate and understanding and tolerant of those we love and live with.

Reiki’s Healing Power

0

healing power 1Healing Power of Reiki is the second of a few articles on Reiki Healing. I will probably exhibit how intense this antiquated Japanese vitality medication is as a hands-on recuperating instrument for encouraging parity and wholeness in the body.

As a Reiki Master Healer and Intuitive Reader these Reiki Healing case studies are from my own experiences with my clients.

Sacred Temple

Our bodies truly are a Sacred Temple. When we acknowledge this truth we begin to heal. As spiritual beings we tend to focus on spiritual growth and development and neglect the body. This creates an imbalance within us and in our lives. It’s time to get back to honoring our body.

It is essential to honor our bodies for they are the vehicles for our spirit. When we can see our bodies as the sacred temple we then naturally treat the body with more respect and care. Eating good foods, drinking plenty of water, exercise and stretching are ways to nurture and love our body.

There are many ways to heal and honor our bodies as the sacred temple of the Divine. One of the most beneficial ways is through touch. Touching a shoulder, cradling a baby and stroking a loved one’s back are simple ways in which we express love and caring.

healing power 3Wholeness

Wholeness in body, mind, emotion and spirit is our birthright. Compassionate, loving hands channel Universal life force energy with the intention of healing. Reiki Healing as well as massage, reflexology and cranial sacral work are examples of healing modalities that involve touch.

Wholeness is the intention for each healing practice. It is important to not get side-tracked by the techniques. It is not the technique that creates healing. it is the intention to heal that counts.

Each modality of healing is like walking through a particular doorway. No matter what doorway you walk through they each lead to the same destination of wholeness.

Reiki Healing

This past year a client came to me for her first Reiki Healing session. She was a working single mom who had problems with her liver. As an intuitive I could see that she held so much anger within her from the past which caused her inflamed liver.

She went on to explain how her dad was an alcoholic who left her and her mom when she was little. Over the years she tried to have a relationship with her dad.

Due to his disease of alcoholism he was unable to be there for her. She stuffed her anger at him for many years resulting in her liver being on fire. The liver holds anger.

Through the transmission of Universal life force energy during her Reiki healing session, my client began her healing process. I channeled Reiki Healing to her liver for quite some time during the session.

My client was already attending Alanon meetings where she was learning to put herself first, handing her life over to her Higher Power. Admitting her powerlessness over the disease of alcoholism was the first step. She didn’t cause it, couldn’t control it nor cure it. Alanon has helped her to detach from her alcoholic father and heal her past.

As a result of her Reiki healing session she learned to focus on self-love, honor her body and her emotions. She learned to forgive her dad and herself. Healing is a process that takes time, intention and focus.

She is rising up from the ashes of the destruction of the family disease of alcoholism and her anger about that. Through the healing power of Reiki a beautiful young woman has begun to change her life from the inside.

Reiki Healing vs Faith Healing

6

Christians would lay hands on someone and pray in the name of Jesus, and in some way applying faith in God. It is called faith healing. It is usually done with prayers in the name of God. Sometimes anointing a person with oil along with the faith of the person praying that facilitates the healing.

With Reiki you are not praying any specific prayers, nor are you calling to any specific God. In this sense Reiki is non-religious. On the other hand Reiki is very spiritual in that you are not just dealing with the body of a person, but their mind, and their spirit. In Reiki we are calling on the same force that has created our physical universe and holds it together. This force does not have a gender, nor does it have any specific way to approach it. It is the creative force of life itself. While it is a spiritual concept this is not necessarily a religious concept or a dogmatic one.

In faith healing there are no symbols one must concentrate on. There are no specific hand positions. One simply has faith, and it is this faith that is supposed to move mountains. Faith then in this case is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things unseen. It is calling on the promises of healing in whatever faith or religion one aspires to, and believing sight unseen that the things that have been prayed for are being manifested into reality through faith.

In Reiki healing, we use symbols as a catalyst for the Universal Life force to channel through us and help the patient heal themselves. As one progresses in Reiki, often symbols become unnecessary because each symbol has a specific “feel” or energetic signature which can be then called on or channeled. There are specific hand positions in Reiki. These hand positions are aligned with something called an energetic chakra system. Chakras are points along the spine where the human energy has created little whirlpools of energy. When we place our hands along these areas, the idea is to align the energetic system which helps to facilitate wellness and healing.

As to what we call on, we call on the Universal force of life itself, or what is known as the force of Creation. Again there are no particular Deities involved, and no set rules of how to approach such a Deity.

Faith healing and Reiki are similar in that they both produce or affect the ability of the body to heal. There are numerous great stories about the power of faith, the most well-known being the healings of Jesus.

I believe that there are many paths to healing and none should be discouraged. It takes faith no matter which of these paths you chose, it’s simply the methodology that you choose which will facilitate that healing.

Using Reiki Energy On Plant Life? Is This Possible?

9

There are Professional gardeners who have attended Reiki trainings in Dublin. Believe it or not, they used Reiki energy on plants and they all testified positive result! Logically, if you have not witnessed the benefits of Reiki on plant life you might be unconvinced. I always say that the proof is in the pudding. If you are skeptical about the capabilities of Reiki energy, then use it to see what results you get. You can’t say something doesn’t work unless you have tested it out objectively.

Reiki on your seeds

There are many people who have completed Reiki classes with me who use Reiki on plant life. Many Reiki enthusiasts actually Reiki the seeds before they plant them. They simply hold the packet of seeds between their hands and Reiki them for a few minutes.

Reiki on Trees

The best way to administer Reiki energy healing to a tree is to gently place your two hands on the trunk. There are many reasons why people might be inclined to use natural healing on trees. These reasons include trees challenged with disease or by environmental factors. A few minutes can go a long way. There is no need to spend long periods using Reiki therapy. Most Reiki practitioners spend no more than fifteen minutes at a time using this method of natural healing on trees. Reiki therapists prefer to do frequent short Reiki sessions than fewer longer ones.

Reiki on Flowers and PlantsReiki 2

Administering Reiki therapy to flowers and plants is easy. Reiki as a method of natural healing is frequently used by gardeners. At my Reiki 1 courses participants are shown how to beam energy to plants. There is no need to actually touch the flower or plant. Place your hands an inch or so away and target the energy to the area that needs it. Again, a few minutes goes a long way.

Reiki practitioners who use Reiki on plants say that it helps accelerate growth as well as assisting plants that are challenged with other issues. I have had a few people turn up because of amazing results seen in their plants after friends used Reiki on them.

Enhance Psychic Powers with Reiki

9

When I first learned about Reiki and received my attunements in my Reiki Level I class, I was unprepared for the psychic boost it would give me, though our teacher told us that might happen. She said that we might be able to start seeing auras if we didn’t have that ability before, and we would become more sensitive to energy.

This new sensitivity might allow us to receive information about the client when giving Reiki, and also open up psychically when we received Reiki ourselves, even actively connecting to our Reiki and spirit guides. There are four different ways that you can boost your psychic ability with Reiki, three requiring attunement to it, while the fourth you need only receive Reiki during a session.

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a “great power from above”, as some people translate it. In reality, reiki is the energy of the source – spiritual energy, that once transfered, turns into Ki – or Chi, if you prefer Chinese term. If you prefer, you might consider reiki to be another form of psychic energy, an energy that can be used not only to sustain your physical body, and thus – heal it, but also to expand your nadi energy channels, and develop your chakras.

Therefore – Reiki can improve your psychic abilities. How?

The Reiki Intiation

images (19)You cannot learn how to use Reiki on your own – you need to be initiated by the Reiki teacher, he – through specific energy work – opens your chakras and expands your nadi – the channels, through which energy flow, this happens during first degree of Reiki. Then, for 3 months you work with this energy, and it flows through you, developing your energy body further, and cleansing all emotional and energetic dust and dirt.

Then, you can take second degree initiation, and make another step towards becoming a hell of a psychic :). Well, OK – it’s not that simple, because even with energy flowing, you still need to work with yourself in order to become psychic. Reiki should be considered more as additional help in psychic development, not the ultimate secret. For example – you can get my psychic development guidebook after being initiated to reiki, and practice the exercises – such mixture will give you even faster and even better results.

What Can Reiki Give You?

What exactly Reiki (both as energy, and initiation process) can give you?

  • Knowledge – before actual initiation, you must learn many things about chakras, energy body and psychic energies. You can as well learn them from books or A State of Mind, but being taught by experienced teacher is a quality on itself.
  • Expands Nadi – through initiation, you expands your main nadi – energy channels – and the energy flow easier through them. The faster the energy flow, the better effects in psychic work you have.
  • Open Chakras – initiation also opens your chakras, at least some of them – these that are most important for psychic work. The more open chakras are, the more energy you can transfer, the better psychic you become.
  • Self-improvement – reiki is also cleansing energy, it cleanse negative subconscious patterns or other patterns from your life. For example, you can stop practicing magick, but with new time gained, you will have more opportunities to practice pure psychic stuff, like the tutorials on A State of Mind.

In these four points, the greatness of Reiki can be found – remember, reiki won’t make you psychic, but it can open you the gate towards becoming psychic if you will still practice.

How To Get Initiated To Reiki?

How to get initiated? All you have to do is to find a Reiki teacher near you (keep in mind that you need some money – Reiki can cost you, since no one is willing to give out Reiki for free – why? Because if you’re ready to pay, then it means you’re really read to become initiated – if it would be free, reiki would be given to people who aren’t ready for it), perhaps through online websites, then schedule your initiation.

REMEMBER – you cannot learn Reiki from books or online courses, you must be initiated by teacher.

Reiki For Your Pets

6

By offering our animals companions all of the Benefits of Animal Reiki, we give something back to our pets for all the healing, unconditional love and laughter they give us.

Animal Reiki is gentle and can be done hands on or from a distance. Also known as Pet Reiki, it has principles and symbols that automatically set the healing intent as positive, and does not rely on any type of belief system or particular religion to work.

Any animal that receives regular grooming from a human is probably receptive to being touched for Reiki. If you want to give Reiki to an animal who is not usually touched, such as fish or wild animals, use techniques where you give Reiki from afar, such as beaming and distant Reiki.

Knowing when and where to go for Reiki

Reiki works well with animals for the same reasons it works well on children and people of all ages. Have you ever noticed that when you pet an animal, he rolls over to receive more or looks at you with lovey-dovey eyes or sighs?

Animals respond to your loving touch and intention. Reiki is another way to help your animals feel better.

You can give Reiki to animals in the following situations:

  • When they are ill: Reiki helps the healing process and works with any type of medical intervention.
  • download (5)When they are young or old: You can use Reiki on an animal of any age or situation.
  • When they have been through a trauma: Animals can use loving energy after they’ve experienced any type of abuse, loss, or move, or if they seem to exhibit depression or other behavioral disorder. Even if you don’t know what the problem is, you can use Reiki to help.

Finding the right pet practitioner

If your pet can travel, you can take him to a Reiki clinic. You may find that a pet trainer, pet groomer, or breeder also offers Reiki services. Here are some suggestions for finding a Reiki practitioner for your animal friend:

  • catDogChakras1Any Reiki practitioner can give Reiki to your pet, although some practitioners specialize in giving Reiki to animals.
  • Animal lovers who work as animal handlers or in veterinarian’s offices are taking Reiki training so they can use Reiki in their work. Some Reiki practitioners specialize in treating animals or even a particular type of animal.
  • In some cities, you may find Reiki clinics for pets! Obviously, you need to have an animal who can travel and behave among other animals.
  • You can learn Reiki yourself so you can help your animals.

Listening to animals

Animals differ in their responsiveness to Reiki depending on their illness, personality, and how well they know you. Here’s how you can read an animal to determine how to administer Reiki:

  • An animal may screech, fly, growl, hiss, or run away as a way of telling you it doesn’t want to be touched. In that case, you can use distant Reiki or beaming techniques.
  • An animal may let you perform hands-on Reiki but then shift positions or look at you funny. Move your hands a few inches above the body and continue Reiki, if you feel that it’s still needed.
  • An animal may tell you it wants Reiki by coming near you when you are giving Reiki to yourself or someone else.
  • If you’re lucky, an animal will move itself so you can give Reiki exactly where it’s needed.

Using different techniques

If you feel comfortable or get an intuitive message to get closer to an animal, you can then try performing Reiki with your hands hovering above the pet. You can eventually move into an actual hands-on session.

Adapt the techniques used for humans to animals. Because animals can’t give their express permission for you to perform Reiki, make sure you approach any animal in a slow and respectful manner when starting to give Reiki. Doing so gives the animal the opportunity to understand what you are doing and lets the animal make his feelings known.

You may want to start by beaming Reiki to the animal from across the room or sending distant Reiki. These techniques may be sufficient for treating an animal.

Intention is the single most important factor in the success of a Reiki treatment. Intend or pray for the highest level of healing for the animal and that you be a pure channel of Reiki energy. Healing is not from you, but through you. Be clear about your role as a Reiki healer and why you are treating the animal.

Here are the general techniques to use on animals:

  • Distant Reiki: This type of Reiki can be performed from anywhere, so you don’t need to be near the animal to do this. You can use this technique to treat any trauma an animal might have suffered in the past or to help the animal with any event in the future.
  • Aniimal_Reiki1Beaming Reiki from across the room: When you are with the animal, start with beaming to connect with the animal from a safe distance. You and Rover then get a chance to connect with each other before moving closer.
  • Reiki with hands hovering over the body: Some pets tolerate this type of Reiki for a longer period of time than hands-on Reiki.
  • Hands-on Reiki: Adapt the standard hand positions for humans to your pet. Some animals are much smaller, but the basic idea of anatomy is the same.
  • Group Reiki: For larger animals, especially horses or large dogs, a few people can perform Reiki simultaneously, sending much love and healing at once.

Giving Reiki to a sick animal helps the human companions of animals as much as it helps the animals themselves.

As is the case for humans, Reiki healing sometimes leads to a curing of an animal’s illness, but it may also lead to a peaceful death. Reiki doesn’t change the natural order of events, but it enhances the experience by giving a dose of love.

5 Common Myths About Reiki

11
reiki

Currently, there is an incredible amount of information one can find on the internet and in published books about the spiritual/healing art of Reiki. When I first became attuned to Reiki in 1980 there were no books available on the subject and, believe it or not, no internet. Reiki was taught orally as was the Western tradition back then.

Many people often misunderstand the Reiki or healing with energy. In this article we will be looking into 5 common myths about Reiki and how you can align yourself with the highest degree of healing.

Usui Reiki teachings and stories were passed down from teacher to student by word of mouth for several years. No wonder the stories got jumbled up! For the record, Mrs. Takata is widely respected in the Reiki community and is credited for introducing the world at large to the spiritual art called Reiki.

But, research has proven that some of her teachings were inaccurate.

Reiki Myths

Myth #1: Reiki is a Religion

Reiki absolutely is a spiritual art. Theprinciple teachings of Reiki embrace a life of balance and promotes spiritual growth. But, Reiki is not a religion, nor is it based in any particular religious doctrine. Reiki does not infringe on anyone’s beliefs or personal values. People of many different faiths have discovered the love-energies Reiki offers.

dr_usuiMyth #2: Dr. Usui was a Christian Monk

The founder of the Usui System of Reiki, Dr. Mikao (Mikaomi) Usui, was not a monk, a Christian, or a medical doctor. He was a Japanese Zen Buddhist, a businessman, spiritualist, and scholar. Late in his life, he experienced a profound spiritual enlightenment after a period of fasting and meditation.

Afterwards he began the process of developing the healing art of Reiki and opened a teaching clinic in Japan.

Myth #3: Having a Reiki Attunement Will Open Up a Dialog with Your Spirit Guide

Ahhh… the lure to get a Reiki attunement with the promise of a glimpse into the spirit world. Please don’t fall for this. This myth may have arisen out of the writings from Diane Stein. In her widely published book Essential Reiki, Diane describes how many of her students became aware of who their guides were after months of using Reiki following their level II attunements. The urban legend that followed was that the attunement alone would make this happen. Some Reiki II classes include a promise to “Meet your Guides.” Yes, it could happen and likely has happened for some Reiki initiates, but there is no guarantee. This promise could set you up for a big disappointment. Hoping for a meeting with your guides or angels should not be the sole reason for signing up to take a Reiki class.

Myth #4: Reiki is a Massage Therapy

Reiki is NOT a massage therapy. Although there are many massage therapists who will incorporate the use of Reiki’s healing energies into their massage sessions. Reiki is an energy-based therapy that does not involve manipulating bones or tissues. Reiki practitioners use a light touch with their hands on their clients’ bodies or will hover their palms over them.

Myth #5: Giving Reiki to Others Depletes Your Own Energy.

A Reiki practitioner does not give his personal energy over to the client. He serves as a channel, funneling Universal Life Energy through his body to the recipient. Much like the delivery boy delivering a package on your doorstep. The Reiki package is delivered, the delivery boy goes home fully intact. Ki energies are infinite and never run out. This does not mean that a person giving Reiki may not feel tired after giving a treatment to someone. This sometimes happens and Reiki has been wrongly blamed for it. If a person giving a treatment experiences exhaustion during or after applying Reiki to others, this is likely an indication that something is out-of-balance in his own body or life that needs attention. Booking a healing session for himself with another practitioner or conducting self-treatments would be warranted.

Reiki is in infinite supply. It never runs out.

What is the purpose of the Reiki hand placements?

Emphasis is placed on devoting five minutes on each hand placement so that no part of the body is neglected and to ensure that each body part is given equal consideration.

What purpose do Reiki symbols serve?

Independently, each Reiki symbol has its own unique purposes. The combined function of these symbols is to provide Reiki practitioners with focal points for their healing intentions.

Do I need to direct the flow of Reiki?

Reiki will automatically go to wherever it needs to go with no mental involvement of either the practitioner or the recipient. However, when mental intention is used, a linear pathway is opened. This cleared route allows Reiki to flow more effectively to that part of the body where attention is most desired.

Why is Reiki called “smart energy”?

Reiki is an intelligent energy because it knows which areas of the body most need healing and will automatically flow to specific areas where suffering or imbalance are prevalent.
